Common Questions
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose the right facial for me?
+
The easiest starting point is to think about your main concern right now. If you want pure relaxation and a glowing complexion — Holistic. If your skin looks congested, dull, or puffy — Fire and Ice. If you’re dealing with breakouts and oily skin — Acne Protocol. If you want to address fine lines and improve firmness — Collagen Supercharge. If your skin is sensitive, reactive, or inflamed, or you’re interested in a whole-body calming experience — CBD. If you’re still not sure when you book, I’ll ask a few quick questions at the start of your appointment to confirm the best choice for your skin that day.
How often should I have a facial?
+
Monthly facials are the gold standard for most skin types — this aligns with the skin’s natural cell renewal cycle (approximately 28 days) and means each treatment works on fresh skin. For those with active acne or specific concerns being actively managed, every 3–4 weeks can be even more beneficial. For others, a facial every 6–8 weeks alongside a good at-home routine is perfectly effective. One of the most underappreciated benefits of regular facials is simply having your skin assessed and treated by someone who knows it well — catching issues early and adjusting your approach over time.
Can facials be combined with other Amber Grove treatments?
+
Yes — facial treatments pair well with many of the other services at Amber Grove. LED phototherapy can be added on to most facials as a finishing treatment to enhance results and reduce any redness. Dermaplaning can be done beforehand to prepare the skin surface for maximum product absorption. Signature facials should be spaced at least 2 weeks from microneedling, chemical peels, or injectable treatments to allow proper healing time. I’m always happy to help you plan a combination approach that maximises your results.
Are the facials suitable for men?
+
Absolutely — all five facials are suitable for male clients. Men’s skin has its own specific characteristics (typically thicker, oilier, and subject to the regular mechanical stress of shaving), and each of the five facials can be adapted accordingly. The Acne Protocol Facial is particularly popular with male clients dealing with congestion and breakouts, while the Collagen Supercharge and Holistic facials are consistently well-received by those wanting a genuine, effective skincare treatment without the aesthetic industry’s sometimes-female-focused marketing. Everyone deserves great skin.
Is there any downtime after a signature facial?
+
All five facials have minimal to no downtime — you can return to normal activities immediately after your appointment. You may notice some mild redness immediately after the Fire and Ice Facial or Acne Protocol Facial, which settles within an hour or two. Some gentle flakiness is occasionally noticed in the days after the Acne Protocol Facial as skin renews. None of the facials require you to avoid daily life, and most clients leave looking genuinely better than when they arrived. I’ll always tell you exactly what to expect at your appointment.
