A gentle place
to rest.

Ultra-gentle, adapted massage for people living with or beyond cancer — an unhurried space to feel cared for, delivered with medical awareness by our Lead Aesthetics Nurse.

Oncology massage is gentle, light-touch massage that has been carefully adapted for people affected by cancer. It’s about comfort, calm and rest — a treatment to help you feel looked after. It is not a treatment for cancer or its symptoms, and we’ll never present it as one.

It’s carried out by Charlotte, our Lead Aesthetics Nurse, who has completed additional training in oncology (cancer-aware) massage [course & NMC PIN to confirm]. That clinical background is exactly why the gentlest treatment in the grove is also the most carefully handled.

You may have heard an old worry that massage can “spread” cancer. That isn’t supported by the evidence. Even so, we take real care — adapting pressure, positioning and the areas we work, always in consultation and with your medical team in mind.

The session

Careful, adapted, entirely yours.

1

Consultation & clearance

Before any hands-on work we talk through your health and, in most cases, ask for clearance from your GP or oncology team. A fresh consultation and consent are completed every visit.

2

A fully-adapted treatment

Light touch and slow, steady movement only — no deep or firm work. Pressure, positioning and the areas we avoid are all shaped around you on the day.

3

Rest & simple aftercare

Time to settle, and gentle aftercare guidance. Nothing is rushed, and you set the pace throughout.

What to expect

Held gently, alongside your care.

Often chosen for

  • Anyone living with, or beyond, a cancer diagnosis
  • People who’d value a calm, unhurried space to simply rest
  • Those who find ordinary massage too firm or too much
  • Family members are welcome to help you settle in

Good to know

  • We work alongside your medical care — never in place of it
  • Clearance from your GP or oncology team is usually needed first
  • We’ll adapt or pause for infection, fever, recent surgery or radiotherapy sites, and other reasons we’ll explain
  • Every visit starts fresh — a new consultation and consent each time
A word from us

Comfort and dignity, honestly offered.

Our job here is simple: to give you a gentle, safe space to rest, and to treat you with dignity while we do. We’ll always be honest about what massage can and can’t offer, and we will never get in the way of your medical care.

If massage isn’t the right thing for you right now, we’ll tell you kindly and help you find what is.

Good questions

The things people ask us.

Do I need my doctor’s permission?
Usually, yes — we’ll ask for clearance from your GP or oncology team, and we’ll guide you through it. It’s there to keep you safe.
Can I have it during active treatment?
Often, with care and with your team’s guidance. We adapt everything to how you’re feeling, and timing is something we’ll talk through at consultation.
Does massage spread cancer?
No — that isn’t supported by the evidence. We still adapt pressure, positioning and the areas we work, carefully and in consultation.
What does it cost?
£40 per session. Concessions and gifted sessions are available — please just ask us, in confidence.
