The treatment

What is LED phototherapy?

LED phototherapy uses specific, clinically proven wavelengths of light to trigger your skin’s own repair processes at a cellular level. Different colours of light reach different depths and prompt different responses — from stimulating collagen to calming the bacteria behind breakouts — all without heat damage and without any of the UV that causes harm.

It’s wonderfully versatile: a relaxing standalone treatment in its own right, or the perfect finishing step after microneedling, dermaplaning or a chemical peel, where it helps to settle redness and drive results further.

“It asks nothing of you — no needles, no discomfort, no downtime — and yet the skin does real work while you simply lie back and relax under the light.”
How it works

The three wavelengths

Each wavelength does a different job. We choose the light — or combination of lights — to match your skin’s needs on the day.

630–700nm

Red light

Rejuvenation & repair

Stimulates the fibroblasts that produce collagen, calms inflammation and promotes cellular repair — for firmer, healthier, more resilient skin.

415–450nm

Blue light

Clarity & control

Targets the C. acnes bacteria behind breakouts and helps regulate the sebaceous glands, reducing oiliness and calming blemish-prone skin.

800–900nm

Near-infrared

Deep healing

Penetrates deepest of all, boosting cellular energy, accelerating healing and soothing deeper inflammation — ideal after other treatments.

Why it works

Key benefits

Boosts collagen

Red light stimulates collagen production for firmer skin and softer fine lines over a course.

Blue light targets acne-causing bacteria and helps control oil, calming breakout-prone skin.

Soothes inflammation and helps settle rosacea-prone and reactive skin.

Speeds healing

Accelerates recovery after microneedling, peels and other treatments.

Even, radiant tone

Improves overall skin tone and radiance for a healthy, lit-from-within look.

Warm, gentle and relaxing — many people rest, or even doze, through a session.

Your appointment

What to expect on the day

During · 20–30 min

Under the light

Your skin is cleansed, you’re given protective goggles, and the LED panel is positioned close to the skin. The light is warm and pleasant — there’s nothing to feel beyond a gentle heat, and most people find it deeply relaxing.

Straight after

Back to life at once

Skin may look very slightly flushed for a few minutes, then settles. There’s no downtime at all — you can apply make-up and carry on with your day immediately.

The course

Best over a series

A single session gives a radiance boost, but LED works best as a course — typically 6–10 sessions spaced 1–2 weeks apart, with noticeable changes from around the third or fourth.

Keeping it up

Monthly maintenance

Once you’ve completed a course, a monthly maintenance session helps sustain the results over time.

The reassurance

Light that heals — not UV

LED phototherapy is fundamentally different from UV exposure. It uses none of the ultraviolet light that damages skin — there’s no DNA damage and no radiation risk. These wavelengths have been studied for decades and are used safely in dermatology and clinical settings worldwide.

Aftercare couldn’t be simpler: wear your daily SPF, carry on with your normal skincare and make-up straight away, and keep your skin well hydrated.

Frequently asked questions

How many sessions will I need to see results?
+
A single session can leave skin looking brighter, but for concerns like acne or fine lines we recommend a course of 6–10 sessions, spaced 1–2 weeks apart, with noticeable changes typically from the third or fourth. A monthly maintenance session then sustains the benefits.
Is LED light safe — how is it different from UV?
+
It’s a completely different kind of light. LED phototherapy uses no UV, so there’s no DNA damage and no radiation risk. The wavelengths have been clinically tested and used safely in dermatology for decades.
Can it help acne and ageing at the same time?
+
Yes. This is one of LED’s real strengths — blue light targets acne-causing bacteria while red light supports collagen and calms inflammation, so a combined protocol can address both at once.
Can I pair it with other treatments?
+
Absolutely — LED is especially effective straight after microneedling, dermaplaning or a chemical peel, where it helps reduce redness and enhance collagen stimulation.
What does the treatment actually feel like?
+
Deeply relaxing. It’s a warm, gentle light with no pain and no discomfort — many people simply rest, and some drift off, during their session.
