Exosome Therapy

One of the most exciting advances in regenerative aesthetics — exosome technology that communicates directly with your cells to trigger deep repair, rejuvenation, and renewal.

What are exosomes?

Exosomes are among the most exciting developments in regenerative medicine and aesthetic science in recent years. They are microscopic vesicles — tiny biological particles far smaller than a cell — that naturally occur in the body as part of how cells communicate with each other. Each exosome is packed with growth factors, proteins, lipids, and other bioactive molecules that carry specific biological instructions between cells.

In a clinical setting, exosomes derived from carefully controlled laboratory sources are used to deliver this powerful biological communication directly to your skin cells or hair follicles — amplifying the skin’s natural regenerative processes far beyond what it could achieve on its own.

“Exosome technology represents a genuine frontier in aesthetic medicine. We’re not adding something artificial to the skin — we’re using the body’s own communication system to tell it to do more of what it already does naturally. The results I’ve seen are consistently impressive.”

At Amber Grove, we use the Purasomes range — a premium exosome product that delivers a concentrated payload of growth factors and bioactive molecules for exceptional results in both skin rejuvenation and hair restoration.

How does it work?

When Purasomes exosomes are introduced to the skin or scalp (via microneedling or injection), they are absorbed by local cells and carry out their biological instructions. The three primary mechanisms are:

🔴
Collagen Synthesis
Stimulate fibroblasts to increase collagen and elastin production, improving firmness, elasticity, and skin structure.
🌿
Inflammation Regulation
Modulate the skin’s inflammatory response — reducing chronic inflammation that contributes to skin ageing, and supporting healthy healing.
🩸
Angiogenic Activity
Support the formation of new blood vessels — improving local circulation and nutrient delivery to treated tissue, particularly relevant in hair restoration.

Research shows that exosomes work at an intercellular level, delaying the ageing process and playing a vital role in remodelling the extracellular matrix — the network of proteins and molecules that gives skin and tissue their structure, support, and integrity.

Skin rejuvenation & hair restoration

One of Purasomes’ remarkable qualities is its effectiveness across two very different applications — making it an exceptional choice for clients dealing with both skin ageing and hair thinning, which often occur simultaneously.

Aftercare guidance

Post-treatment care depends on the delivery method (microneedling or injection) and the treatment area (skin or scalp). I’ll give you specific instructions tailored to your treatment at your appointment. General guidance includes:

Skin treatments: Avoid touching the treated area, keep skincare gentle for 3–5 days, wear daily SPF, and avoid saunas and exercise for 24–48 hours.

Scalp/hair treatments: Avoid washing hair for 12–24 hours after treatment. Avoid intense heat (hair dryers on high, saunas) for 48 hours. No harsh styling products for 24 hours. Gentle shampooing only for the first week.

Frequently asked questions

How are exosomes different from PRP (platelet-rich plasma)?
+
Both PRP and exosome therapy aim to stimulate regeneration, but through different mechanisms. PRP uses growth factors extracted from your own blood, which requires a blood draw and can vary in potency depending on the individual. Exosomes are standardised, laboratory-produced particles that deliver a consistent, concentrated payload of growth factors and bioactive molecules. Exosome therapy is generally considered more potent than PRP — delivering a significantly higher concentration of growth factors — and doesn’t require a blood draw. It also produces more predictable results given its standardised concentration.
How quickly does hair regrowth start after exosome treatment?
+
Hair has a natural growth cycle, so results from any hair restoration treatment take time to become visible. Most clients begin to notice reduced shedding within 4–6 weeks of their first treatment, and new growth typically becomes visible from around 3 months onwards. For the best hair restoration results, a course of 3–4 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is recommended. Continued improvement is usually seen for up to 6 months after completing a course. I’ll always set realistic expectations at your consultation based on the extent of your hair loss.
Can I combine Purasomes with microneedling?
+
Yes — and this is one of the most powerful treatment combinations we offer. Microneedling creates microchannels in the skin or scalp, which dramatically increases the absorption and penetration of the Purasomes applied during treatment. The two therapies are highly synergistic: microneedling’s collagen-stimulating response combined with the regenerative signal from exosomes produces results that neither achieves as effectively on its own. This is particularly impactful for both skin rejuvenation and hair restoration.
Is exosome therapy safe?
+
Exosome therapy has an excellent emerging safety profile, and the Purasomes range uses rigorously tested, laboratory-produced exosomes. As with all advanced treatments, the safety of the procedure depends significantly on the expertise and clinical judgement of the practitioner. A thorough consultation and medical history review is always conducted before treatment. As a registered nurse with specialist training in advanced aesthetic treatments, I’m well-positioned to assess your suitability carefully and manage your treatment to the highest clinical standards.
How does exosome skin treatment compare to polynucleotides?
+
Both are powerful biostimulators that trigger the skin’s own repair and regeneration processes, but they work differently. Polynucleotides (PDRN) are DNA fragments that stimulate fibroblasts and act as a scaffold for tissue repair. Exosomes are cellular communication particles that deliver a broad range of growth factors and bioactive signals to multiple cell types simultaneously. In practical terms, both produce excellent results and they are highly complementary. Exosome therapy tends to produce faster initial responses; polynucleotides are particularly effective for deep tissue repair and hydration. Many clients benefit from incorporating both into their treatment plan.
